
Women's Basketball Falls to St. Joe's, 74-57

Philadelphia, PA - The Boston College women's basketball team suffered a 74-57 road loss to St. Joseph's at Michael J. Hagan Arena on Thursday night. The Eagles are now 4-8 on the season, while the Hawks improved to 8-4.
Sophomore center Katie Zenevitch led the Eagles with 18 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the season. Sophomore Kristen Doherty added 10 points while freshman Joy Caracciolo had 13 points in her third career start.
St. Joe's was led by Michelle Baker had 17 points while Kelly Cavallo added 14 points and Ashley Prim finished with 13 points.
BC led for the first eight minutes of the match behind five points from Zenevitch and four from Doherty. The Eagles shot out 7-3 in the first two minutes. With 11:41 to play, St. Joe's Michelle Baker hit a layup and the Hawks took the lead, 13-12.The Eagles tied the game at 17-17 on a layup by Caracciolo with under nine minutes to play.
St. Joe's would go up by six on an Ashley Prim jumper with under five minutes to play. The Hawks held an eight point lead in the half but a layup by Shayra Brown and foul shot by Caracciolo cut the halftime lead to five points.
BC had eight turnovers in the half, while shooting just 40 percent from the floor. Zenevitch had 10 points and nine boards at the half. St. Joe's held the rebounding edge, 15-13.
The Eagles fell behind by 10 points, the biggest lead of the game for St. Joe's with 11:03 in the game behind four straight points from Ashley Robinson (10 points). Two foul shots by Robinson extended the lead to 12 points with 10 minutes to play.
Kerri Shields completed a traditional three-point play to cut the lead to nine points with under 10 minutes to play. That is the closest the Eagles would get to the Hawks. Prim hit a jumper from the top of the key and was fouled by BC. Prim completed the traditional three-point play and the Eagles were down 14 points with 6:40 to play.
Boston College shot 46.8 from the floor and had 15 turnovers. St. Joe's shot 50 percent from the floor and held a 30-22 edge in rebounding.
The Eagles will play next on Monday, Jan. 2 at Conte Forum against Central Connecticut State. It is the final non-conference game of the season.
