Katie King Crowley Announces 2012 Signing Class

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Katie King Crowley announced the 2012 signing class consisting of five student-athletes on Monday morning. The
newest Eagles
consist of three forwards and two defenders from five states and four schools.
"This is one of the best recruiting classes we've had here at BC," Crowley commented. "These five girls bring tremendous experience. All of them have been involved with USA Hockey's camps in the last few years and three of them have had numerous opportunities with the U.S. U-18 team. I'm excited to see how their hard work and talent can help our team over the next four years! All of these players will make an impact at Boston College and it will be fun to see them excel."
Alexandra Bender is defenseman out of Shattuck St. Mary's High School. The Snohomish, Wash., native attended the USA National Tryout Camp in Blaine, Minn., this past summer, and trained with the U.S. Development Camps in each of the previous two seasons. As junior, Bender racked up 44 points (14g, 30a) in 55 games to lead Shattuck St. Mary's to a USA Hockey National Championship.
Meghan Grieves currently plays forward at the Culver Academy in Indiana. Originally from Cary, N.C., Grieves' 46 points on 22 goals and 24 assists during her junior campaign were second most for Culver. Included among her list of accolades are attendance at three USA Development Camps over the past few seasons and breaking the gender barrier at the Junior Hurricanes Hockey Program in Raleigh, N.C.
Kaliya Johnson will come to BC out of the North American Hockey Academy. Johnson netted seven goals and 37 assists during the 2010-11 season at NAHA and was chosen to compete for the USA U-18 Select Team in a series with Canada this past summer. The defenseman who hails from Chandler, Ariz., was the winner of a "Dare to Dream...Expect to Succeed" national scholarship.
Haley Skarupa is currently in her fourth season with the Washington Pride, in the Junior Women's Hockey League. The JWHL MVP and First-Team All-Star totaled over 300 points (172g, 135a) over the previous two seasons. Skarupa, a native of Rockville, Md., was a part of the U-18 U.S. Select Teams that won gold and silver at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship in 2011 and 2010, respectively. Skarupa has also represented Team USA on the U-18 Select Team in it series with Canada for the last three years.
Dana Trivigno also comes from Shattuck St. Mary's. The forward racked up 44 goals and 27 assists in 53 games to leading her school to a 2010-11 USA Hockey National Championship. Trivigno has been a member of the USA U-18 Select Team series with Canada for the past two years. The Setauket, N.Y., product also won a gold medal at the 2011 IIHF World Championship with the U-18 U.S. Women's National Team.
