Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Junior goalkeeper Corinne Boyles was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week in an announcement made by the conference on Monday. This the first league accolade for the Wheaton, Ill., native, as well as the first defensive honor for the Boston College women's ice hockey team this season.
In two games against No. 8 Northeastern, Boyles denied 68-of-70 shots for a .971 save percentage. The lefty made a season-high 40 saves in the 3-1 defeat of the Huskies on Thursday night and returned to stop 28 chances in a 4-1 victory the following night at home.
Boyles did not allow an even-strength goal the entire weekend, as the net-minder picked up her fourth and fifth wins over a ranked team for Boyles this year.
Boston College was also named the Hockey East Team of the Week for outscoring the Huskies, 7-2, and amassing 76 shots. The Eagles had previous garnered Team of the Week honors on Oct. 17 and Oct. 24.
BC will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. against Quinnipiac. The meeting will be hosted by the Bobcats and available for a live-stream through quinnipiacbobcats.com.
