Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College volleyball Head Coach Chris Campbell announced the signing of Katty Workman to a national letter of intent (NLI) on Wednesday. Workman is a 6'0", outside hitter from Thousand Oaks, Calif.
"Katty is a high flying outside hitter with great arm speed and fantastic ball control," Campbell commented. "Her ability to be a primary serve-receiver in all 6 rotations and experience on the best U-18 club team in the country have prepared her well for the jump to ACC play. Her athleticism will be welcome on offense and her back-row play will have an immediate impact."
Workman is one of Southern California's all-time leading attackers. The La Reina High School product has registered over 1700 kills in her four year career with the Regents. Workman's 499 kills and 5.90 kills per game average as a senior helped her earn a third consecutive Tri Valley League MVP honor. She was also recognized on the All-Ventura County and All-California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) First Teams for three consecutive seasons.
This past summer, Workman led her club team, Sports Shack, to the 2011 U-18 Open National Championship in Atlanta.
Workman is a National Honor Society member and has served as class president and class secretary while at La Reina.
