Chestnut Hill, Mass. -Boston College volleyball head coach Chris Campbell announced the signing of Kameron McLain to a national letter of intent (NLI) on Wednesday. McLain, an AVCA All-American out of Eastside Catholic, is 6'1, middle/outside hitter from Bellevue, Wash.
"Kam is a fantastic athlete: tall, fast, great vertical jump and good arm speed," Campbell observed. "Freshmen middles always have an adjustment period as they get used to the speed and complexity of Division I competition, but Kam's experience, skills and athleticism should allow her to make that adjustment quickly and compete for playing time right away."
McLain, recently named Metro League Co-MVP, has led Eastside Catholic to three appearances in the state championship match in four consecutive state tournaments. The four-year starter received a 3A All-State Honorable Mention as a freshman, before becoming a First-Team All-State selection over the past two seasons.
The 2011 Preseason AVCA All-American's other accolades include being named the to the ECC All-Star Team, 3A Washington Player of the Week, an All-Star at the Select Team Emerald City Classic and an eight-time recipient of the "Big Time Player Award", as selected by her teammates.
McLain led her club team to three berths in the national championship, formerly known as the Junior Olympics. Her resume boasts experience in many national and international tournaments, such as the Brazil Club Minas Tournament in 2011, where McLain was tabbed as the Best Blocker among some of the world finest young athletes.
Prepvolleyball.com featured McLain on their "Fresh Faces" lists as early as 2008, eventually listing the signee as No. 62 on the Senior Aces list, a rating determined by college coaches throughout the nation.
