Boston College freshman forward Johnny Gaudreau has earned Hockey East Association Rookie of the Week honors after scoring one goal in each of two league wins over UMass-Lowell last weekend, according to a league announcement made on Monday.
The 5-foot-8, 150-pound forward scored twice and hit the left post on three shots attempted in two games. Gaudreau has tallied nine points - four goals and five assists - in eight games this season.
The weekly award marks the second of the season for Gaudreau. He previously earned Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors after he scored the go-ahead goal during a power play and had the primary assists on both of Pat Mullane's goals and the secondary assist on Steven Whitney's tally for his first four collegiate points against North Dakota (Oct. 15).
Boston College (7-1-0, 5-0-0 Hockey East) retained the nation's No. 1 ranking in both national polls released on Monday. The top-ranked Eagles return to action on Friday, Nov. 4 at home against Maine. BC will travel to Massachusetts to conclude its two-game weekend the next night. Both games are scheduled to faceoff at 7 p.m.
