Chestnut Hill, Mass. –The Boston College volleyball team is in the Tar Heel State for an ACC road trip this weekend. The Eagles (7-15, 3-8 ACC) meet North Carolina (18-5, 10-2 ACC) on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and NC State (15-9, 3-8 ACC) on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.

The Eagles were victims of two three-set matches against the two teams at home in late September. Boston College fell in closed games to the Tar Heels and was caught on a bad hitting night when the Wolf Pack arrived.
BC looks to rebound from last weekend, when it faced nationally ranked Florida State and Miami. The Maroon and Gold was competitive, but were overtaken by both ACC foes.
The Eagles will need productive nights from outside hitters Tsvetelina Dureva and Courtney Castle. The senior and freshman led BC with 3.07 and 2.35 kills per game, respectively. Dureva’s average is seventh best in the conference, but the duo will need to get past one of the best blockers in the ACC, Margaret Salata, when they travel to Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday.
Middle hitters Krystle Higgins and Melissa McTighe will also be counted on for efficient matches. Higgins’ .244 and McTighe’s .212 attack percentages, as well as their 60-plus blocks lead the Eagles.
Freshman Kellie Barnum has filled in nicely since taking over the offense on Sept. 25. The rookie nears her 400th assist of the year and has been distributing 7.05 assists per set, ninth most in the league.
Classmate Lauren Fields leads the team with 19 aces, with Castle and senior Brennan Clark not far behind with 18 and 16, respectively.
Clark’s 4.99 digs per set is second highest in the ACC. The Mililani, Hawaii, native leads the back-row effort for the Eagles with 374 digs this season.
