WXC Takes 13th in Wisconsin, Outpaces Eight Nationally Ranked Teams

Madison, Wis. –The Boston College women’s cross country team turned in its fastest times of the season to claim 13th place and defeat eight nationally ranked opponents at the Wisconsin ADIDAS Invitational at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course on Friday afternoon.
The unranked Eagles collected 435 team points to upset No. 13 North Carolina (454 pts.), No. 25 Notre Dame (475 pts.), No. 2 Providence (480 pts.), No. 23 Iowa (489 pts.), No. 22 Florida (506 pts.), No. 21 Minnesota (520 pts.), No. 27 BYU (539 pts.) and No. 30 Clemson (559 pts.).
Junior Bridget Dahlberg led BC for the third time this season, crossing the line in a personal-best of 21:05.0. The Newton, Mass., native topped her previous 6K PR by three minutes to take 61st in the field of 305 competitors.
Graduate Hope Krause scored second for the Eagles, utilizing her swiftest time of the 2011 campaign, 21:09.2, to finish in 71st overall.
Senior Jillian King was the next to hit the tape, submitting a season-best 21:15.5 for 92nd, followed shortly by freshman Liv Westphal in 96th with a time of 21:16.2 in her first collegiate six-kilometer run.
Junior Elizabeth O’Brien completed the scoring for Boston College. The Chappaqua, N.Y., product was clocked at 21:25.5, her fastest clip of the year.
Junior Allison Stasiuk’s season-best 21:59.4 and freshman Brittany Winslow’s PR of 22:03.8 did not count towards the team tally.
Boston College will be off until heading to Clemson, S.C. for the ACC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 29.
