Men's Hockey Defeats Providence, 3-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior forward Jimmy Hayes and sophomore defenseman Brian Dumoulin each tallied one goal and one assist to lead Boston College to a 3-1 road win and a two-game weekend sweep of Providence College.
BC defeated Providence, 4-1, in Kelley Rink last night. Tonight's victory was the Eagles' seventh straight win.
BC led 1-0 after one period and 3-1 after two periods. For the second consecutive night, the Eagles and Friars played a scoreless third period.
Dumoulin put BC on top 1-0 at 4:42 of the opening period. Junior Barry Almeida and freshman Billy Arnold picked up assists.
After the host Friars evened the score on senior Ian O'Connor's goal just 1:40 into the middle period, BC answered with two goals within a three-minute span to take control. Hayes notched his ninth goal of the season - the decisive score - at 5:35 and sophomore Chris Kreider netted his second goal in as many nights at 8:16 to complete the scoring.
Sophomore Parker Milner, making his fourth appearance of the season, made 33 saves to earn his second victory. PC junior Alex Beaudry stopped 31 shots in 57:53.
BC returns to action at Maine on Sunday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m.
Game Notes: Almeida and Dumoulin assisted on the Hayes goal, while sophomore Pat Mullane and Jimmy Hayes assisted on Kreider's score ... Each team was assessed 10 penalties, but neither team managed a power-play goal.
