Gibbons Earns League Player of the Month Recognition

Boston College alternate captain Brian Gibbons has earned Hockey East Association Player of the Month honors for December, according to a league announcement made on Tuesday.
The Braintree, Mass., resident recorded eight points - four goals and four assists - in December wins over Boston University (12/3 and 12/4), Colgate (12/30) and Mercyhurst (12/31). He finished the month with three multiple-point efforts and one two-goal performance and tallied a plus-5 rating. Most recently, Gibbons earned Ledyard Classic All-Tournament honors after he recorded five points, including three goals, in two wins in Hanover, N.H.
The 5-foot-8, 165-pound forward has an eight-game scoring streak intact during which he has tallied 16 points - six goals and 10 assists. He has tallied multiple-point performances in six of the last eight games and has at least one point in 16-of-18 games this season. Gibbons' current scoring streak marks the second longest of his career. Last winter, he tallied an 11-game scoring streak from Dec. 12 to Feb. 8, during which he tallied 19 points - five goals and 14 assists.
Gibbons has recorded 25 points - 10 goals and 15 assists - in 18 games this season and has 138 points - 48 goals and 90 assists - in 139 career games.
Boston College, which has won its last five games, is 13-5-0 and is ranked No. 3 in both national polls released on Monday, Jan. 3. The team is back in action this weekend with a two-game home-and-home series against Providence beginning on Friday, Jan. 7 at Conte Forum at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles and Friars will conclude the series at Providence on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m.
