Winston-Salem, NC -
The Eagles will travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Sunday to prepare for a Monday night game (Jan. 31) against Wake Forest. The game can be viewed live tonight on NESN.
The Demon Deacons seem to have the Eagles number as they have defeated BC twice in the last two meetings. Boston College does lead the head-to-head series, 3-2. Last season, Wake Forest defeated BC, 60-56, at Conte Forum.
Wake Forest is coming off a tough loss to Maryland, 75-44, on Friday night. The Demon Deacons are now 1-12 overall and 1-5 in the ACC.
Boston College is trying to stop a two-game losing streak. BC is coming off a tough loss to No. 15/21 FSU last Thursday. The Eagles are currently 15-6 and 2-4 in the ACC.
MURPH'S TURF
Stefanie Murphy enjoyed one of the most impressive scoring nights in a tough loss to Florida State on Thursday night. The senior shot 11-for-21 from the floor, 7-for-7 from the foul line and finished with a career-high 30 points. Her previous high was 28, in which she did against Wagner as a freshman.
The Londonderry, NH native is averaging 16.5 points, good enough for fifth among the ACC scoring leaders. She is second in rebounding (8.5 rag) in the ACC, right behind teammate Carolyn Swords (8.6 rag.). Murphy has earned 10 double-doubles this season, breaking her personal record of nine, which she accomplished as a freshman.
Murphy passed Amber Jacobs `04 on the all-time scoring list to move up to fifth with 1,563 points. Murphy is fourth on the all-time list for rebounding (855 boards). She is eight blocks from moving into fifth on the block list.
Ranking the Rookie
Boston College freshman guard Kristen Doherty is one of most consistent players on the roster this season. The Eagles rookie is averaging 9.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. She also leads the team in steals with 48.
Doherty is currently 14th in the country and second in the ACC in assist-to turnover ratio (2.3). Among the ACC freshmen, Doherty is fourth in scoring (9.6 peg.), seventh in rebounding (4.5 rag.), 11th in three-pointers field goal percentage (34.4%), second in steals (2.35 spy.) and first in assists per game (3.25 apt.). She has hit 33 three-pointers this season. The freshman record for three's in a single season is 48 by Clare Driesch. Doherty just passed Mickey Pico (21) at seventh place.
