The Boston College Women's Track and Field team won four events and posted three ECAC qualifying standards, totaling 76 points and finishing in third place at the Boston University Tri-Meet on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011.
Sophomore Bridget Dahlberg claimed her first collegiate win and earned seven points for BC, finishing the mile competition in an ECAC qualifying standard of 4:57.49.
Senior Madeline Wallace also saw her first collegiate victory come with an ECAC qualifying mark. The lone BC 800-meter runner came around in 2:14.01.
Junior Sara Missert won for the first time in her BC career, capturing seven points for the Eagles with a time of 1:18.36 in the 500-meter dash. Missert returned as the anchor leg for the 4x400-meter Relay who placed second in 4:01.72.
Senior Siobhan Breagy also doubled in the 500-meter and relay contests. Breagy finished second, earning five points, in the 500-meters at 1:19.28, before serving as the lead off for the 4x400-meter team that included junior Jillian King, senior Caroline King and Missert.
The third ECAC qualifier came from Jillian King, who led a dominate group of Eagles in the 1,000-meters with the fourth fastest time in school history. King won the race in 2:48.93 and was immediately followed by sophomore Sarah Lord (2:59.30), graduate Jessica Driscoll (2:59.60) and freshman Alanna Poretta (3:00.57). A runner from Sacred Heart managed to squeeze in front of sophomore Erin McKenna (3:05.06) to prevent a sweep from BC.
McKenna had taken fourth in the mile earlier in the day, scoring three points for BC with a time of 5:09.91 in her first attempt at said distance. Sophomore Allison Stasiuk also ran the mile, coming in at 5:13.72 for sixth place.
Senior Hope Krause (9:58.96) and sophomore Elizabeth O'Brien (10:09.50) led a large contingent of BC athletes with second and third place finishes respectively in the 3,000-meter run. Freshman Morgan Mueller hit the tape in 10:23.01 for fourth place, but scoring rules prevented her from contributing further to BC's sum.
Junior Elizabeth McGuirk (11:04.18) and sophomores Jean Christensen (11:00.50), Moira Kenny (11:00.66), Meaghan Anklin (11:01.57) and Lauren Shaw (11:23.39) also competed in the 3,000-meter race.
On the straightaway, freshman Margaret O'Dea tallied five points for the Eagles. Three came from a third place finish (7.98 sec.) in the 60-meter dash and the other were the result of a fifth place finish in the 200-meters at 26.57.
Junior Casey Hsiung added three more points in the 200-meters, edging O'Dea for fourth place in a time of 26.21 as the winner of the second section.
The Eagles walked away with nine points from the high jump. Sophomore Taylor Aizenstadt placed second with a height of 1.67 meters (5-5.75 ft.), scoring five, and junior Georgettte Asfoura took third at 1.52 meters (4-11.75 ft.).
In the circle, sophomore Margaret Stapleton-Smith earned two points with a weight throw of 11.90 meters (39-0.5 ft.).
