Boston College will be represented by two former players in this year's Super Bowl as LB Robert Francois, NT B.J. Raji and the Green Bay Packers defeated Chicago, 21-14, in the NFC Championship Game.
Raji has started every game this season at nose tackle, racking up 39 tackles (29 solo) and 6.5 sacks during the regular season. His biggest play of the year came Sunday when he intercepted a pass and ran it back 18 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. That score gave Green Bay a 21-7 lead and proved to be the game winner.
Raji never had an interception while at The Heights.
Francois got his first start of the season against the New York Giants on December 26 and is a valuable member of the special teams unit while also performing a backup role at inside linebacker. He had a pair of tackles in Sunday's win.
Both players were members of the 2008 Boston College team that won an Atlantic Division title their senior year. Although they both began their NFL careers in 2009, their journey to the Super Bowl followed two different paths. Raji was selected as the ninth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by Green Bay, while Francois was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings before being released and eventually signed by the Packers on January 11, 2010.
Super Bowl XLV will take place at Cowboys Stadium on February 6, 2011. Coverage begins at 6:30 PM EST on FOX.
