Carolyn Swords Named ACC Player of the Week

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College's Carolyn Swords was named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week, as announced today by the conference office. This is the second time this season in which Swords has earned the weekly conference honor.
Swords averaged 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds and shot 65 percent from the floor as the Eagles went 1-1 this past week.
The Sudbury native had 15 points and a season-high 19 rebounds in a win over NC State on Jan. 20. It was Swords eighth double-double of the season and 38th in her career. She also reached the 1,000 rebound plateau with her 19 boards. She also shot 7-for-11 form the floor, handed out a career-high five assists and had three blocks in the win.
In the Eagles only loss this week to Georgia Tech, Swords shot 9-for-16, 4-for-6 from the free throw line, grabbed six boards and finished with 22 points.
Swords', a four-year starter, is currently shooting 71 percent from the floor and continues to lead the ACC and the country in field goal percentage. She is fourth in the ACC in points per game (18.0 ppg.) and first in rebounding (8.9 rpg.). Swords' has increased the all-time rebounding record to 1,024 boards. She also has the record for most career blocks with 163.
The Boston College is currently 15-5 on the season and will host Florida State on Thursday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m.
