Chesnut Hill, Mass. -
Boston College outside hitter Tsvetelina Dureva was named the Global Player of the Week by American Volleyball Scouting Report (AVSR) on Monday, Sept. 6. This is the first AVSR honor bestowed to a BC student-athlete.
Dureva was a key component of the Eagles undefeated weekend at the Harvard Invitational Tournament. The junior racked up 30 kills at .238 attack efficiency, 33 digs, six blocks and a trio of service aces as BC defeated New Hampshire, 3-2, Eastern Illinois, 3-0, and Harvard, 3-0. The Bulgarian native earned all-tournament honors for her performance.
Dureva's academic excellence also played a role in her selection. She was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor and earned the Boston College Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement as a sophomore. Each week, ASVR selects one player for the award based on their all-around play for the current season.
Since 1985, ASVR has been determined to identify up-and-coming talent in the foreign volleyball world through unbiased and accurate reporting. For more information, please visit their website.
