Two Eagles Named to Harvard All-Tournament Team

Boston College outside hitters junior Tsvetelina Dureva and sophomore Val Mattaliano were each named to the Harvard All-Tournament Team for their performances this weekend in Cambridge, Mass. The duo led a much improved attack for the Eagles, which had its highest efficiency rating since Oct. 3, 2009. BC defeated New Hampshire, 3-2, Eastern Illinois, 3-0, and Harvard, 3-0, to go undefeated in the competition.
Over the course of the tournament, Dureva averaged 3.00 digs and 2.73 kills per set and added four service aces and six blocks. Mattaliano paced the Eagles with 32 kills on 93 attempts. The sophomore averaged 2.91 kills, while also recording 12 digs and 11 blocks this weekend.
Boston College resumes play on Friday, Sept. 10, at the Bryant Tournament in Smithfield, R.I. BC will kick-off the tournament with its second meeting against Holy Cross this season at 6 p.m.
