
No. 9 Field Hockey Defeats Quinnipiac 5-1

HAMDEN, Conn. - Freshman Paige Norris made her mark with two goals in the Boston College field hockey team's 5-1 win against Quinnipiac.
The Eagles continue their perfect 4-0 winning streak while the Bobcats fall to 1-1.
Norris snuck her first goal past Quinnipiac goaltender Nicole Lewis in the 11th minute with a shot from the left of the goal through heavy defensive traffic.
The Bobcats responded quickly as Nicole Serrante scored on a penalty stroke two minutes later. The 1-1 tie didn't last long as Norris found the back of the net again, this time from the top of the arc to up the score 2-1.
Courtney Tavener followed soon after, tapping it in off a rebound from a blocked shot to end the first half 3-1.
Janna Anctil got her second goal of the year only two minutes into the second half on a rebound off a save. Emily Kozniuk scored her third goal of the season at the 55 mark to increase the margin to 5-1.
BC outshot Quinnipiac 24-8, with nine corners to the Bobcats' four. Kristine Stigas had three saves in goal for BC.
Next the Eagles travel to Worcester on Sunday, September 5 to take on the Holy Cross Crusaders at 1 p.m.
Game Notes: Paige Norris scored her first two collegiate goals in the game... Virgynia Muma took her first shot on goal... Emily Kozniuk leads the team in goals (3) and points (7) this season...today's goal is the only one BC has allowed in four games...goalie Kristine Stigas has only had to make nine saves so far this season.
