No. 9 Field Hockey Wins 5-0 at Holy Cross

The Eagles earned their fifth win and fourth shutout of the season in a 5-0 contest against Holy Cross on Sunday, September 5. Boston College remains unbeaten at 5-0 on the season while Holy Cross falls to 0-2.
BC proved once again its corners are dangerous when Jacqui Moorfield scored the first goal of the day off a set up from Emily Kozniuk, pushed out by Janna Anctil.
The next goal came just before the close of the first half as Chapin Duke passed out to Anctil in front of the cage, who was able to land a hard shot from a few yards back.
Anctil had a second goal in the 42nd minute when a volley in front of the cage allowed her to tap it in, assisted by Courtney Tavener.
Tilly Brampton scored the fourth goal of the game from four yards out in front of the cage, on a pass from the left by Catherine O'Brien.
Tavener scored the last goal of the game, assisted by Anctil. It was once again a penalty corner set up and after a couple shots were deflected, Tavener was able to convert Anctil's pickup from the right side.
BC's offense was dominant throughout the game, allowing the Crusaders only one shot. The Eagles had 15. They also forced 12 corners but only allowed one.
Boston College field hockey will take a break this week but resume game play on Friday, September 10 against Boston University at the Newton Campus Field. It will be the first home game for the Eagles.
Game Notes: BC has scored four goals off corner set ups this season... ...they have forced 49 so far this season... Kristine Stigas has only had to make 10 saves this season and the defense has only allowed 24 shots over five games... Tilly Brampton's goal was her first this season.
