Volleyball Falls to N.C. State

The Boston College volleyball team fell to N. C. State, 25-14, 25-20, 25-11, on Friday evening at the Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C. Junior Brennan Clark led BC with nine digs against N.C. State (11-3, 1-1 ACC) and moved into fifth place on the Eagles all-time career digs list with 1,013.
The Eagles (8-7, 0-2 ACC) offense suffered from its worst offensive performance of the season, recording 15 kills on 83 attempts. Sophomore Val Mattaliano led BC with three put-aways and four players, senior Melanie Cimino, Dureva, Higgins and Mattaliano, tallied three blocks.
The Wolfpack took control of the match from the get-go. took the first set, 25-14.
N.C. State took a quick early in the second game, 4-1. A pair of Wolfpack errors and a kill by Mattaliano moved the Eagles to within one, 5-4. The Wolfpack maintained control until 10-7, when BC put together spurred a run behind a kill from junior Tsvetelina Dureva, a N.C. State error and several blocks by sophomore Krystle Higgins and Mattaliano. The Eagles held a slight lead, 12-10, but were overtaken by their opponents and surrendered the set, 25-20.
In the third, N.C. State jumped out to an early lead and took the match with a win, 25-11.
