Muppidi Ranked No. 60 in Preseason ITA Poll

Akash Muppidi was ranked as the No. 60 player in the National Preseason Singles Rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. This is the highest ranking ever by any Boston College men's tennis player.
Muppidi held a ranking within the top 100 for the majority of the 2010 campaign and earned victories over four players who were ranked 75th or higher nationally. The junior became the first Eagle to ever be named to the All-ACC Team following the 2010 season, compiling a team-best 19-5 overall, 7-4 ACC record. Following his successful season, Muppidi was name the ITA Northeast Region Player to Watch for in 2011.
Muppidi will compete in the D'Novo ITA Men's All-American Championships as the sixth-ranked player from Oct. 7 - Oct. 10 in Tulsa, Okla. The prestigious tournament features top-ranked players from across the country vying for singles and doubles titles. The championship begins on the first of Oct. with a 256-player singles pre-qualifying tournament, which then feeds into a 128-player pre-qualified draw. In doubles, 64 teams compete to move into the 32-team main draw.
