Women's Cross Country Takes Second at UMass Invitational

The Boston College women's cross country team took second place with 46 team points at the UMass Invitational Meet on Saturday in Amerst, Mass. Sophomore Sarah Lord crossed the line first for the Eagles, running a personal record time of 17:51 to finish in fourth place overall.
"I was very happy with today's outcome," head coach Randy Thomas stated. "We took second by only a few points, but overall I was very pleased with everyone's performances. Our team continues to get better, because anyone of our student-athletes can come in and run like they did today."
Senior Siobhan Breagy and sophomore Jessica Driscoll also established new personal bests, coming in at 18:06 and 18:13 respectively, over the 5k course. Breagy was the second finishers for the Eagles (sixth overall), followed by Driscoll (ninth overall), sophomore Sarah Dahlberg (18:17 - 10th overall) and freshman Morgan Mueller (18:34 - 17th overall) rounded out the scorer's for Boston College.
"Siobahn and Jessica ran great races today," Thomas said. "I was very proud of them. Performances like theirs today continue to contribute to the overall depth and strength of our program."
Boston College resumes competition next weekend at the Roy Griak Inivitational Meet in St. Paul, Minn.
