A new era in Boston College volleyball officially begins this Friday, Aug. 27, when the Eagles travel to Worcester, Mass. for the first day of the Beanpot Classic. First-year head coach Chris Campbell and his new assistant coach Eric Perrine will guide BC against Holy Cross and Fordham, before returning home on Saturday to host the second half of the tournament versus Northeastern and Quinnipiac.
This weekend marks the second consecutive season the Eagles will compete in the Beanpot Classic. Last year, behind sophomore Mollie Kolosky's 34 kills and four blocks, BC earned victories over Holy Cross (3-0) and Northeastern (3-2) to go two-for-two in the tournament.
In addition to a new coaching staff, the Eagles roster features four new faces. Jillian McAndrews, Melissa McTighe, Cagla Sen and Alexandra Trobbe all join Boston College in their first year with the program.
The remainder of the Eagles 2010 lineup consists of four seniors, three juniors and four sophomores from the team that went 12-19 (2-12 ACC) a year ago. Overall, BC brings back nine letterwinners and seven starters who will look to make a big impact this season.
Returning stats leaders include:
Melanie Cimino - Blocks (93)
Brennan Clark - Digs (498) and Digs per Set (4.41) (both 4th in ACC)
Tsvetelina Dureva - Service Aces (27) (10th in ACC)
Mollie Kolosky - Kills (240) (10th in ACC) and Hitting Percentage (.336) (6th in ACC)
Krissy Mussenden - Assists (1051) and Assists per Set (9.06) (both 7th in ACC)
