CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The 2010 Boston College Women's Lacrosse team was honored as an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Academic Squad on Thursday, August 12.
The Eagles were awarded for maintaining a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2010 season.
This squad is no stranger to academic honors. In July, Lauren Costello, Peyton Killeen, Hannah Alley, Kristin Igoe, and Jillian Rekart were all named to the 2010 All-ACC Academic Team. Costello, Killeen, Alley, and Igoe also earned the BC Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement in 2009-10. This is the fifth time in Coach Bowen Holden's five years at Boston College that the team has been named an IWLCA Academic Squad.
"I am truly proud of the effort our student-athletes put forth in the classroom. It is their first priority and our first priority. We make sure they maintain that focus all year long and believe lessons learned on the playing field are important factors in their success in the classroom and beyond," said Holden.
