Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College Head Coach Sylvia Crawley was recently presented with the "Trailblazer" Award by MAGIC 106.7 FM EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN at their annual banquet last week. EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN has put the spotlight on nearly 400 women. The weekly radio programs honors women who have overcome obstacles to achieve greatness in their lives!
Crawley, a native of Stuebenville, Ohio, arrived at Boston College in May of 2008. She has coached two seasons at Boston College and compiled a 40-27 record. Prior to coaching, Crawley played at both the collegiate and professional levels. She was a member of the 1993-94 North Carolina team that posted a 33-2 record and captured the National Championship. Crawley, the 1993-94 team captain, earned the Final Four Coaches' MVP and was named to the East Region All-Tournament Team. She also helped North Carolina to the 1994 ACC Tournament championship and was named to the All-ACC Tournament Team.
Off the court, Crawley is an active motivational speaker, presenting to youth groups, schools and for a number of Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) teams. Crawley is also the co-founder and publisher of Monarch Magazine (monarchmagazine.com), which is published quarterly. A 1994 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Crawley earned a double major in Communication and Radio, TV and Motion Pictures.

EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN has won thirty-two prestigious awards including seventeen Gracie Allen Awards from the American Women in Radio & Television, seven Boston Achievement in Radio Awards, the "Star Award" from the Massachusetts Broadcaster's Association and the Communicator Awards 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2009 Crystal Award of Excellence.
