The Boston College sailing team tallied its third consecutive title in the NEISA New England Team Racing Championship this weekend.
This is the Eagles' third consecutive conference championship and their fourth overall, having won the honor in 1998.
BC completed the weekend with the best record amongst the 12 schools in the competition, coming in at 9-3 overall. The Eagles' only three losses came at the hands of Roger Williams and two losses against Harvard.
The Eagles raced four separate boats in the tournament, employing a substitution tactic in two of them. Juniors Taylor Canfield and Danny Bloomstine along with senior Sandy Williams combined to form one group while juniors Taylor Sinks and Lucy Wallace and senior Christian Manchester made up another. Sophomores Annie Haeger and Emily Massa raced for BC on Saturday while senior Evan Cooke and junior Briana Provancha competed on Sunday.
Three berths to the team race nationals were set this weekend, with Boston College grabbing one of them thanks to its victory. The other two schools to earn a spot were Tufts, who finished 8-4 for the tournament, and Yale, who was 7-5.
NOTES: Massa, Williams, Canfield and Sinks were named to the NEISA All New England first-team for 2010. Wallace and Haeger earned second-team accolades as well.
