Eric Perrine, who spent the past two seasons with the University of California-San Diego, has been named as an assistant coach to the Boston College volleyball team, announced Head Coach Chris Campbell.
"I am thrilled to be able to add a coach of Eric's background and experience to the volleyball staff at BC," Campbell said. "He has a track record of professionalism and success as both a player and a coach, and our players will benefit from their interaction with him. This is another step forward for BC volleyball."
Perrine's main responsibilities with the Eagles will involve practice and match planning, recruiting, video and statistical analysis, and coordinating the team's community service programs.
Perrine comes to the Heights after spending the past two years with both the men's and women's programs at the University of California-San Diego. While with the Tritons, he worked with the setters and middle blockers on the men's team while also acting as video coordinator and scouting director for the women's team.
Perrine was also named the interim head coach of the UCSD women's team earlier this season, where he handled all of the team's scheduling and budget needs in addition to his on-court duties.
As a player, Perrine had a stand-out career at UCSD, winning a Division III national championship as a freshman before the school elevated the volleyball program to Division I for his final three seasons.
A two-time team captain, Perrine's exceptional skill level allowed him to be a starter in three positions: setter, outside hitter, and a middle blocker, where he finished second in the conference in blocks per set. He followed up his collegiate career with two seasons of professional volleyball in Denmark, competing as both an outside hitter and setter.
