
Men's Basketball Loses to Wake Forest, 92-85

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - Senior Tyler Roche scored a career-high 31 points and junior Corey Raji totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Boston College in a 92-85 ACC loss to Wake Forest before 10,832 fans in Lawrence Joel Coliseum.
Roche shot 10-for-15 from the field, including 6-for-8 from three-point range. He netted 17 of his points in the first half. The senior made his third start of the season (and 32nd start of his collegiate career), playing in place of Joe Trapani who was sick.
Sophomore Reggie Jackson contributed 17 points, while junior Rakim Sanders added 10 points.
The host Demon Deacons jumped out a 13-4 lead early in the contest and maintained that margin until BC used a 10-3 run to narrow its deficit to two points at 26-24 (with 8:39 left in the half). Roche sparked that rally with six points.
Wake Forest regrouped and gained a 40-31 advantage with 3:16 left in the half. The home team led by as many as 14 points - 48-34 - in the half, before settling for a 50-39 lead at the break.
The Demon Deacons, which shot a blistering 72.4 percent from the field in the first half, extended their margin to 19 points - 75-56 - midway through the second half. BC battled back, using a 14-3 run to close within eight points - 78-70 - with 5:49 to play. Roche scored seven points and Raji notched four points in this stretch.
BC trimmed the Wake Forest lead to six points in the final minute.
Game Notes: Roche's 31-point output matches Joe Trapani's scoring effort at Miami last month as the Eagles' highest single-game scoring total of the season (and the highest single-game effort by a BC player since Tyrese Rice scored 46 points against North Carolina on March 1, 2008) ... Roche also grabbed seven rebounds ... The game marked Raji's fourth double-double of the season and the sixth of his collegiate career ... BC had an 18-13 edge in second-chance points ... BC committed 10 turnovers, while forcing 12 Wake Forest turnovers ... BC made seven steals ... Each team made 31 field goals. BC made nine three-pointers, while Wake Forest made seven treys.
