Men's Tennis Picks Up Its First Win Of The 2010 Season Over Lafayette 7-0

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College men's tennis team split this weekends' matches as it picked up its first win of the 2010 season defeating Lafayette 7-0 on Saturday afternoon, but dropped its ACC opener earlier on Saturday morning to No. 20 Virginia Tech 7-0.
The weekend leaves the Eagles with a 1-2 record on the year. Lafayette is now 2-1, while Virginia Tech is 3-1 for the season.
A bright spot for the Eagles was freshman Billy Grokenberger picked up his first collegiate singles and doubles victories against Lafayette. He won at the number six singles spot defeating James Murphy 6-3, 6-1. He also teamed up with senior Brian Garber, who is seeing his first action all season due to a wrist injury, to win at the number two doubles spot 8-4.
The No. 27 nationally ranked doubles team of Thomas Nolan and Erik Kreutzer went 1-1 on the weekend falling to Virginia Tech 8-7 (4), but defeated Lafayette 8-2.
Boston College is back on the court on Wednesday, February 10 as they continue conference play against Florida State in Milford, N.H. The match will start at 5 p.m.
