Terry Driscoll, a forward who enjoyed three stellar seasons at the Heights, has been selected as Boston College's 2010 ACC Basketball Legend.
Driscoll joins 11 other honorees in this year's class. The contingent includes nine former NBA Draft selections, seven All-ACC honorees and six players who accounted for a total of 52 years in the NBA.
The Winthrop, Mass., product played three seasons - 1966-69 - for head coach Bob Cousy. The Eagles earned two NCAA Tournament berths and one NIT bid in Driscoll's three years. In 1968-69, BC advanced to the NIT championship game. BC finished with a 64-15 record in Driscoll's career.
Driscoll still ranks among BC's career leaders in scoring (16th, 1,426 points), rebounding (second, 1,071), rebounding average (first, 13.9 rpg) and scoring average (sixth, 18.5 ppg). He averaged an amazing 23.3 points per game in 1968-69.
He was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1974. His jersey was retired in a Conte Forum ceremony on Jan. 24, 1999.
The fourth pick in the 1969 NBA Draft (by the Detroit Pistons), Driscoll played one year in Italy, before returning to play five seasons in the NBA (1970-75) and one year in the ABA (1975-76). He then returned to Italy as a player and eventually a coach.
In April 1996, Driscoll was named athletics director at William & Mary.
Boston College's previous ACC Basketball Legends are Dana Barros (2006), Jay Murphy (2007), Bill Curley (2008) and Danya Abrams (2009).
