Boston College senior forward Allie Thunstrom has been nominated for the 2010 Patty Kazmaier Award as announced by USA Hockey.
The award is given annually to the top women's college hockey player in the country.
The Maplewood, Minn. native currently leads all Hockey East scorers with 20 goals on the season and is tied for fifth in the league in overall scoring with 27 points. She is also tied for fourth in the conference with three game-winning goals.
Thunstrom is the fourth highest scorer in BC history, having recently surpassed Deborah Spillane '08 on the all-time list by recording her 135th point for the Eagles. She currently has 136 in her Boston College career.
Thunstrom joins a group of 45 collegiate players from around the nation who have been recognized for the honor, including seven other members of Hockey East schools.
This is the second year in a row that BC has had at least one player nominated for the award. Forward Kelli Stack and goalie Molly Schaus were each nominated last season, with Schaus being named a top-10 finalist.
