No. 25 Womens' Basketball Downs Holy Cross, 98-64

In its first game since being ranked by the Coaches Poll this week, No. 25 Boston College defeated Holy Cross, 98-64, at the Hart Center on the campus of Holy Cross. The Eagles improved to 9-0 on the season, while the Crusaders are now 4-5.
Sophomore Kerri Shields led the Eagles with a career-high 25 points, while shooting 7-for-9 from the three-point line. The seven three's match her career-high which she achieved against BU in the Eagles first victory of the season.
Seniors Jaclyn Thoman had 15 points, four assists and grabbed a career-high of five steals. Senior forward Stefanie Murphy notched her fourth consecutive double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while senior center Carolyn Swords had 12 points, three blocks and three steals.
Boston College shot 58 percent from the floor and held a 52-34 lead at the half.. Shields led BC as she shot 5-for-6 from the three-point line for 17 first half points. Swords shot 4-for-5 for 10 points, three blocks and two steals.
The Eagles opened up with Shields and Thoman hitting three's to go up 6-0. The Eagles pulled away late in the half when Shields hit her third three-pointer followed by two steals by Swords resulting in a seven point swing.
BC opened the second half like the first with a three-pointer from Thoman, her third of the game. Thoman's three sparked a 9-2 run to start the half. The Eagles defense forced three turnovers in the run.
The Eagles stayed in their aggressive defense throughout the second half and created 10 turnovers. BC scored 35 points off turnovers and shot a season-high 61 percent from the floor. More impressive the Eagles were 55 percent from the three-point arc (13-for-23).

GAME NOTES
Boston College leads the country in scoring offense with a 90.4 average ... This was the Eagles third time scoring in the 90's ... BC hit a new program high 13 three-pointers (13-for-22, 57 percent from the arc). The old record is 12 three's set against UNH in Nov. 2005 ... The Eagles shot a season-high 61 percent from the floor ... The Eagles also dished out a season-high 25 assists ... The 9-0 start for BC is the best since the 2003-04 season when the Eagles went 7-0.
