Boston College senior Karl Reddick has been selected to participate in the 2011 adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine, according to a recent announcement by the MLS. Reddick is one of 54 collegiate seniors that comprise the initial list of invitees. He will travel to the Central Broward Regional Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. to participate in the combine from Jan. 7-11.
The combine will separate all players into four teams and feature two games per day on Jan. 8, 10 and 11.
Reddick, a defensive midfielder, concluded his four-year collegiate career having played in 80 matches. The Pottstown, Pa., native registered 72 starts in the midfield. He twice served as team co-captain - as a junior in 2009 and as a senior in 2010. Reddick tallied 16 points - four goals and eight assists.
Boston College concluded its 2010 season with a 10-5-5 record. It earned the No. 5 seed to the ACC Tournament with a 2-2-4 conference regular-season record and advanced to the semifinals of the league tournament. BC earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament - its eighth trip to the national tournament in the last 10 years. BC fell to Brown, 2-1, in the tournament's first round on Nov. 18 in Providence, R.I.
Boston College compiled a 50-26-9 during Reddick's four-year tenure, including a 19-9-4 record in ACC regular-season competition, and participated in four NCAA Tournaments. The team earned an automatic berth - and the top overall seed - to the 2007 NCAA Tournament and captured at-large berths in each of the last three seasons (2008-2010). Reddick captured All-ACC Freshman team honors in 2007, a season in which the Eagles captured the ACC Regular-Season and Tournament titles. He captured All-ACC second-team accolades and NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region third-team honors during his junior campaign.
The initial player list was determined by a panel of Division I college coaches who nominated and voted for players in conjunction with MLS coaches. These players will be joined by Generation adidas players, additional collegiate players from NCAA Division II and III schools, NAIA school and Division I alternates.
The final player list, combine coaches and team assignments, will be announced in the coming weeks.
