CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Reggie Jackson scored 27 points and senior Biko Paris equaled his career high with 19 points to lead Boston College to an 88-76 win over Indiana in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge before 5,329 fans in Conte Forum.
Freshman Danny Rubin tallied 10 points, including three three-point field goals in a five-minute span of the second half, to lift the Eagles.
BC (5-2) built a 14-point halftime lead and withstood a furious Indiana rally that twice brought the Hoosiers within one point, before regaining control in the game's final six minutes.
Indiana (6-1), which shot a blistering 63.0 percent from the field in the second half, trimmed the BC margin to one point at 60-59 with 7:21 to play. Rubin answered with the first of his three treys to push the BC lead back to four points.
After the Hoosiers reeled off three straight points, Paris and Rubin sandwiched three pointers around two Indiana free throws to raise the Eagles' advantage to five points - 69-64.
Jackson followed with two lay-ins and Paris added another lay-up to cap a 9-0 BC run that gave the home team a 75-64 cushion with 2:39 to play.
After Rubin sank the last of his treys, the Eagles hit 10-of-12 free throws in the final two minutes to gain the win.
Game Notes: Coach Steve Donahue saluted the effort of senior center Josh Southern as a key to the Eagles' win. Southern finished with eight points (6-for-6 FT), six rebounds and four assists in 15 minutes. Southern delivered a nifty bounce pass that resulted in a Paris lay-in that gave BC a double-digit advantage with 2:39 left ... Senior Corey Raji recorded nine points, six rebounds and three assists in 12 first-half minutes. With a field goal with 5:23 remaining in the first half, Raji became the 37th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. He did not return to action after sustaining an injury in the first half ... BC shot 50.9 percent from the field - 51.6 percent (16-for-31) in the first half and 50.0 percent (12-for-24) in the second half ... Both teams finished the contest shooting 28-for-55 from the floor ... BC registered 17 assists and committed just six turnovers ... With the win, Boston College raised its ACC/Big Ten Challenge record to 5-0. BC is the lone team in either conference with a perfect challenge record.
