In the latest Division-I USTFCCCA National Cross Country Coaches' Poll, the Boston College women's cross country team was ranked No. 22, jumping up three spots, following their fourth place finish at the 2010 ACC Cross Country Championship.
At the meet, Boston College totaled 100 points - its fewest ever at ACCs - to end up behind four-time consecutive conference champion and nationally ranked No. 2 Florida State (52), No. 12 Virginia (75) and No. 17 Duke (99).
In the Northeast Regional standings, BC remained idle in the fourth spot. The Eagles follow other nationally recognized programs No. 9 Syracuse, No. 13 Providence and No. 14 Stony Brook.
The Atlantic Coast Conference leads the nation with six ranked programs, including No. 21 North Carolina and No. 29 N.C. State in addition to those mentioned above. The Pac-10 and Big 12 each have five team ranked in the Top-30, while the Big Ten and Big East have four apiece.
The Boston College cross country teams resume competition at the NCAA Regional Championships held at Hammonassett State Park, Conn. on Saturday, Nov. 13. The top-two teams will automatically advance to the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 22. Other teams will have the opportunity to receive at-large bids from the NCAA, while the top four student-athletes from non-qualifying teams will also earn trips to the big show.
