Carolyn Swords Leads Women's Basketball To Victory

Burlington, VT - Senior Carolyn Swords notched her third consecutive double-double - 26 points, 12 rebounds - to lead Boston College past Dartmouth College, 87-61, in the first game of the TD Bank Classic on Friday night.
The Eagles improved to 3-0 on the season, while Dartmouth is now 0-3.
Swords had two blocks in the game which gives her the all-time lead in program history in swats. Along with Swords, Stefanie Murphy added 14 points, while freshman Korina Chapman added 10 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Kristen Doherty filled up the stat sheet with six points, six rebounds, eight assists and six steals.
Boston College held a 38-25 lead at the half behind 16 points and eight rebounds from Swords. The Eagles shot 42 percent from the floor but just 3-for-10 from the three-point line in the half. BC's defense did hold Dartmouth to 9-for-26 from the floor (34 percent).
The Eagles pulled away early in the second half as they went on an 8-2 run to go up 46-27. The lead extended to 21 points when Swords hit Doherty underneath for an easy layup with 8:52 to play.
A Murphy jumper from the wing gave BC a 26 point lead with 6:33 to play. Chapman would score six of her 10 in the final three minutes to keep BC's lead.
BC shot 47.8 percent from the floor and had 15 steals. The Eagles out-rebounded Dartmouth, 47-33.
Game Notes:
• Boston College will play host Vermont on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. BC and Vermont have played seven times. The Eagles lead the series, 5-2. In the last four games, the series is tied at 2-2. Vermont defated BC, 84-65, last season at Conte Forum.
• Freshman Katie Zenevitch finished with six points and eight rebounds. • The Eagles are averaging 20 assists and 15 steals a game.
