They came from behind to tie the game with two goals but the Boston College women's hockey team tied the first game in its weekend series against Hockey East opponent Connecticut 2-2 at Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn. after a scoreless overtime period.
BC is now 5-0-2 on the season, 2-0-1 in conference play, while Connecticut is 1-6-1, 0-1-1 in Hockey East action.
The Huskies broke a scoreless first 15 minutes with back-to-back goals at 15:17 and 18:08 to end the first period with a 2-0 lead.
Kelli Stack answered with a goal at the 5:52 minute mark of the second period to start a BC comeback. Melissa Bizzari followed with a goal at 7:32 in the third to tie the game. Meagan Mangene and Danielle Welch assisted on the tie breaker.
Mangene's goal forced an overtime but neither team could score the gamewinner.
Molly Schaus recorded 16 saves in the won, two in overtime. BC outshot Connecticut 38-18.
The Eagles will host the Huskies tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
Game Notes: Molly Schaus now has 136 saves this season for a .938 save percentage... Mary Restuccia took the lead in assists with seven after adding one today... Melissa Bizzari scored her third goal of the game... Kelli Stack has scored goals in all but one game this season.
