Chestnut Hill, Mass. -
The Boston College volleyball team will kick-off its third annual Dig for a Cure weekend on Friday, Oct. 29. The Eagles will don pink jerseys for matches against North Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. against N.C. State in an effort to help raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
BC began the Dig for a Cure event in 2008 as a way to support the Susan G. Komen For the Cure foundation. According to the organization's website, over 207,000 new incidences of breast cancer in women and nearly 2,000 incidents in men will be diagnosed in the United States this year alone.
Anyone interested in making contributions are asked to do so through the Susan G. Komen website in the name of the Boston College volleyball team.
Offensively, Boston College (8-16, 0-11 ACC) is led by outside hitter Tsvetelina Dureva with the ACC's fourth-highest average of 3.32 kills per game and freshman Cagla Sen with 5.72 assists per set.
