Women's Basketball Picked Seventh in ACC Media Preseason Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Boston College women's basketball team was picked to finish seventh among the league's 12 schools in the 2010-11 ACC Women's Basketball Preseason Media Poll.
The Blue Ribbon Panel that conducted the poll was made up of a contingent of national and local media, as well as numerous school representatives.
Duke University placed in the poll with 24 votes, followed by North Carolina with six first-place votes. The 2009-10 regular season ACC co-champion Florida State, which received two first-place votes, was chosen to place third, while Maryland and Georgia Tech were picked to finish fourth and fifth. NC State placed sixth, followed by the Eagles. Miami, Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Clemson rounded out the selection order.
Boston College was represented at the ACC media day this afternoon by head coach Sylvia Crawley and seniors Carolyn Swords and Stefanie Murphy.
Swords became first Boston College player to be named to the All-ACC Preseason team for the second consecutive season. Also earning honors was freshman Kristen Doherty who was selected to the Preseason Newcomers List.
The Eagles will start their 2010-11 season on the road as they will take on Boston University on Friday, November 12. The 2010-11 Boston College team will be led by Swords, Murphy and fellow senior guard Jaclyn Thoman.
