NEWTON, Mass. -
The Boston College field hockey team notched its 10th win this season with a close 2-1 game against New Hampshire, thanks to solid play all around from the Eagles.
After a scoreless 15 minutes, BC's Courtney Tavener collected a pass from Paige Norris and put it in the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.
Jacqui Moorfield upped the score 2-0 before the end of the first half with a hard shot that deflected into the goal off Wildcats' goalie Katherine Nagengast. She was assisted by Emily Kozniuk and Janna Anctil.
New Hampshire attempted a comeback at 16:50 in the second half when Whitney Frates found herself one-on-one against goalie Kristine Stigas and fired the ball past her right side and into the goal.
Then with just 54 seconds left in the game, the Wildcats forced a corner but Stigas held strong with a diving save to win the game.
BC held a slight edge on shots, 8-7. Stigas made five saves.
