Volleyball Hosts No. 22 Florida State, Miami This Weekend

The Boston College volleyball team is set to take on No. 22 Florida State and Miami this weekend, Oct. 15 and 17, in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Eagles (8-12, 0-7 ACC) look to get their first conference win when they take on the Seminoles at 7 p.m. on Friday, before meeting the Hurricanes on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in Power Gymnasium.
The Council for Women of Boston College (CWBC) has arranged for a post-match meet and greet session immediately following Sunday's match. All fans are invited to come onto the court for pictures and autographs with the players. For more information about the CWBC, please visit their website.
Last weekend, a pair of seniors made their way into the BC record book. Libero Kristen Baader jumped into eighth place with career dig number 895 and middle hitter Melanie Cimino posted her 208th block for ninth place on the all-time list.
Leading the Eagles on offense are junior outside hitters Tsvetelina Dureva, who boasts the ACC's fifth best kills per game average (3.25), and Brennan Clark (2.53 kills per game).
Baader and Clark are leading BC's back-row effort this year. The two Eagles are ranked fourth (4.47) and tenth (3.79) in the ACC for digs per game, respectively.
Florida State (13-4, 5-2 ACC) is ranked 16 in the NCAA Rating Percentage Index (RPI). Florida State is currently ranked as the nation's 38th best in hitting percentage (.251) and blocks per set average (2.54).
Senior middle blocker Lauren Young and junior outside hitter Visnja Djurdjevic will lead the Seminoles into the Heights.
Djurdjevic is averaging 3.88 points per set, eighth best in the ACC. The Serbian native also boasts 3.22 kills per set, hitting .270 on 526 attempts for the year, and 0.34 aces per set, third highest in the conference.
Young leads the team in blocks with an average of 1.19 per game, third most in the ACC.
Last weekend, the Seminoles defeated Clemson (11-7, 2-5 ACC), 3-1, before falling to Georgia Tech (11-7, 4-3 ACC) in three sets.
Miami (13-5, 3-4 ACC) is also coming off a split weekend against Georgia Tech and Clemson. The Hurricanes defeated the Tigers, 3-1, after losing to the Yellow Jackets, 3-2.
Miami is the country's 12th best setting team, putting 13.43 assists on the board each game. They are also ranked No. 25 in digs (16.87) per game and No. 34 in hitting percentage (.254).
Junior outside hitter Lane Carico leads the Hurricanes with 224 kills (3.34 per game) and 241 digs (3.60 per set).
