Women's Rowing Welcomes New Assistant Coach

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's rowing program has announced a new addition to the program, assistant coach Anthony Brock.
Brock returns to The Heights from his last stint here as the novice coach for men's rowing from 1999-2000. Brock coached the team to a fifth place finish in the Champion International Collegiate Regatta with the Men's Novice 8 that year.
"We are thrilled to have Anthony back to BC," Head Coach Steve Fiske said. "He brings the understanding, work ethic and passion for rowing that will make a big impact on the program."
Prior to his return to BC, Brock was the Director of Rowing at Northwestern University where his responsibilities included overseeing the entire rowing program,, recruiting, purchasing, fund-raising, and acting as a liaison for alumni and between the academic and athletics spheres.
At the same time, Brock also acted as the head coach for Northwestern women's rowing. His varsity women won the ACRA National Championship in 2009 with the Lightweight 4 and the Novice Women's 4. They also won the Dad Vail Championship for the first time in the 25-year history of the program in 2005 in the Lightweight 4. In 2008 they placed second at the ACRA National Championships in the Lightweight 4.
Brock has over 10 years of coaching experience, ranging from the high school level at Niskayuna High School in New York and the New Trier High School in Illinois to the collegiate level with stints at Northwestern and prior to that a year at MIT as the freshmen lightweight men's coach.
Brock is certified by USRowing at Level III, the foundations of personal training and has his New York State Coaching Certification. He is certified in CPR, First Aid, and lifeguarding as well.
A 1996 graduate of Ithaca, Brock rowed with the men's lightweight crew team during college.
