Women's Basketball Falls to Clemson, 68-65

Clemson, SC - The Boston College women's basketball fell to ACC foe Clemson, 68-65, at Littlejohn Coliseum on the campus of Clemson University. The Eagles fall to 11-10 overall and 2-4 in the ACC. Clemson is now 10-12 overall and 1-5 in the ACC.
BC will host Miami on Sunday, Jan. 31 at Conte Forum.
Boston College was led by Stefanie Murphy with 19 points and a season-high 15 rebounds, while Mickel Picco added 17 points, all in the first half. Brittanny Johnson had six points, six rebounds and six assists.
Clemson's Jasmine Tate hit four straight free throws and finished 11 points to seal the win for the Tigers. Shaniqua Pauldo led the Tigers with 24 points, while Lele Hardy had 18.
Hardy sparked an 11-6 run to start the second half and the Tigers were tied 40-40 at 16:25 in the second half. Murphy paced the Eagles scoring eight straight points to give BC a 46-42 lead. The Eagles held s 55-51 lead at 7:55 behind Murphy's 17th point of the game.
A layup by Swords on a long pass from Brittanny Johnson gave BC a 57-53 lead at the six minute mark. Swords picked up her fourth foul with 5:52 to play. A layup by Jasmine Gill and Murphy gave BC a four point lead but seven straight points by Shaniqua Pauldo kept Clemson close.
Swords returned at 3:48 and after she missed a foul shot was called for her fifth foul. BC was then outscored, 6-0 to take a 65-61 lead with 1:23 to play. A layup by Ayla Brown stopped the Clemson run and cut the lead to two points with 57 seconds to play. A missed jumper by Murphy led to two foul shots by April Parker to seal the win for Clemson.
Boston College shot just 40 percent from the floor and led 34-29 at the half. The Eagles were led by Picco who shot 7-for-9 from the floor, 3-for-4 from the three-point line for 17 first half points.
Picco's second three in the half gave BC a 24-18 lead with 6:06 to play. The Eagles lead grew to 10 points when on a 6-2 run capped off by two foul shots by Swords with 3:49 to play in the half. The Tigers cut into the halftime lead by outscoring the Eagles 6-2 in the final two minutes.
