Women's Track Competes In Rhode Island Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Boston College women's track team showed once again this weekend why it is one of the top teams in the Northeast region as it put on a dominating performance at the Rhode Island Invitational on January 23. The Eagles captured five first place finishes, and 19 individual top-five finishes on the day.
Senior Caitlin Bailey got the first place finishes started for the Eagles as she won the 500m run with a time of 1:16.14. Bailey's classmate Meaghan Callahan took fourth in the event finishing with a time of 1:17.44.
Senior Christine Sullivan kept the momentum going for the Eagles as she won the 800m run crossing the line at 2:16.64. Freshman Grace Rodriguez grabbed a top-5 finish of her own finishing fourth in the event with a time of 2:18.01.
Junior Caroline King secured the Eagles third win of the day by taking first place in the 1000m run with a time of 2:49.28. Not to be outdone by her older sister freshman Jillian King won a race of her own by crossing the line first in the one mile run with a time of 4:49.48.
Senior captain Gretchen Andrus finished off the Eagles individual victories with a win in the 3000m run posting a time of 9:55.67.
Sophomore Kelsey Huckins shined in the field events for Boston College as she took second place in the shot put with a throw of 12.94m, and third place in the weight throw with an impressive toss of 16.22m.
Boston College will be back in action on Friday, January 29 as it will compete in the Terrier Classic and the Reebok Boston Indoor Games in Boston, Mass.
