Boston College Falls to No. 22 Virginia, 70-68

The Boston College women's basketball team suffered a tough loss 70-68 loss to No. 22 Virginia (13-5, 2-2) in front of 1,053 fans at Conte Forum.
Virginia's Paulisha Kellum hit a jumper in the lane with four seconds to play to seal the victory. BC's Brittanny Johnson attempted a half court shot at the buzzer but could not draw a foul call.
BC (11-8, 2-2) was led by Johnson and Mickel Picco with 13 points apiece, while Stefanie Murphy notched a double-double - 11 points, 10 rebounds.
BC led for most of the second half as the Eagles took the lead at 17:22 on a three-pointer from Johnson. The Eagles lead increased to nine points when Carolyn Swords (10 points, 5 rebounds) hit Ayla Brown (nine points) down low at 10:42.
Virginia's pulled within three points as Monica Wright (39 points, six rebounds) scored five straight points with just under 10 minutes to play. A Brown three-pointer from the top of the key gave BC a four point lead with 7:29 to play. At 2:31 to play and BC up 65-63, Swords picked up her fifth foul. Two foul shots by Chelsea Shine cut the Eagles lead to one point, 65-64.
BC lost the lead with 35 seconds to play when Wright hit two foul shots with 35 seconds to play. Johnson tied the game with 16 seconds to play on a drive up the middle. Kellum's heroics took place to steal a road victory against the Eagles.
The Eagles were down 34-30 after the first half as Wright had 14 points. BC was led by Swords with 10 points and four rebounds. BC shot just 37 percent in the first half and finished the game shooting just 40 percent from the floor.
BC also lost the battle of the boards, 44-29.
