CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Junior Joe Trapani scored a career-high 31 points and sophomore Reggie Jackson netted 17 points to lead Boston College to a second-half comeback and a 79-75 win over host Miami before 5,133 fans in the BankUnited Center.
Jackson netted 15 of his 17 points in the second half.
Boston College trailed by 17 points - 58-41 - with 15:46 to play in the game, before rallying for the win. The visiting Eagles began the comeback with a 13-5 run to trim the deficit to single digits at 63-54 with 11:15 to play. Trapani converted two old-fashioned three-point plays, Jackson hit two jumpers and Tyler Roche sank a three-point field goal in this stretch.
The Eagles' onslaught continued and BC closed to within two points - 65-63 - with 7:32 remaing. Roche registered five points and Corey Raji recorded four points in this second run.
The host Hurricanes were able to maintain the advantage until a Trapani lay-in with 2:53 to play pushed the Eagles to a 70-69 lead.
Jackson followed with two free throws (with 2:31 left) and Trapani sank a jumper (with 2:01 left) to boost the BC margin to five points at 74-69.
Miami got within two points with six second remaining, but Trapani calmly netted two free throws with 5.2 seconds left to secure the victory for the visitors.
BC made 17 field goals and shot 54.8 percent from the field in the second half. Miami, which held a 45-35 halftime lead, shot 61.5 percent from the floor in the first half, but were limited to 34.5 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes.
Game Notes: BC was credited with 19 assists on 31 baskets ... The Eagles committed just five turnovers, equaling their season low ... BC made six steals ... Miami gained a 37-30 rebounding advantage. Trapani grabbed a team-high six rebounds, while Jackson finished with five rebounds ... Both teams were whistled for 16 fouls.
