Atkinson Earns Hockey East Weekly Honor

Boston College right wing Cam Atkinson has earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors, according to a league announcement made on Monday.
The sophomore forward registered five points - three goals and two assists - and a +6 rating in league victories over Providence (1/12) and Maine (1/15) last week. He tallied two points - one goal and one assist - in a 4-1 win over the Friars and recorded three points - two goals (just 38 seconds apart) and one assist - in a 6-1 win over the Black Bears.
A 5-foot-8-inch, 175-pound product of Greenwich, Conn., Atkinson has 22 points, including a team-high 13 goals, in 20 games this winter. He has scored at least one time in three straight games and 11 of the last 15.
Atkinson has 41 points - 20 goals and 21 assists - in 56 career games.
BC, which has won its last two games, is 12-6-2 overall and is in second place in Hockey East action with a 9-4-2 record. The team returns to action at home this Friday, Jan. 22, against Boston University at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised by NESN. Following Friday's home game, the Eagles travel to UMass-Lowell on Saturday, Jan. 23.
