Men's Basketball Announces 2009-10 Captains

Senior forward Tyler Roche and junior guard Biko Paris will serve as captains of the 2009-10 Boston College men's basketball team, according to an announcement made by head coach Al Skinner.
Roche averaged 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game for the Eagles last winter. He scored in double figures three times and led the team in scoring once. At year's end, Roche shared the program's Coaches Award with teammate Josh Southern. The Hooksett, N.H., resident also earned the program's Student-Athlete Award for the second consecutive year.
Paris averaged 3.4 points and 1.7 assists per game in 34 games in 2008-09. He scored in double figures four times, including a season-high 15-point effort against Duke in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament. He captured the program's 2008-09 Frank Power Award, which is given annually to the player who exemplifies the dedication, loyalty and spirit that was characteristic of the longtime BC basketball coach.

In addition to the five individuals listed last week who will be honored at the New England Basketball Hall of Fame, the organization has announced some additional honorees, five of whom also have Boston College ties.
Jay Murphy (player, 1980-84) and Tim O'Shea (player, 1980-84, associate head coach, 1997-2001) will both be honored in the "Ronald S. Perry" category; Marikate Kelley (player, 1979-83) in the "Semi-Professional Women" category; Bill Coen (assistant coach, 1997-2001; associate head coach 2001-06) as "New England Division I Coach of the Year - Men"; and Bob Zuffelato (assistant coach, 1969-71, head coach, 1971-77) with the "Pathfinder Award".
The Pathfinder Award recognizes individuals who began their basketball careers in New England and later achieved excellence outside the region.
