Aug. 25, 2009
Sixteen challenging league games, three games in the 2009 Paradise Jam, a road game at Michigan in the Big 10-ACC Challenge and a home game against South Carolina highlight the 2009-10 Boston College men's basketball schedule. The schedule was released today by the school and the ACC office.
The Eagles will also face five New England foes - hosting Harvard (Dec. 9), Rhode Island (Dec. 13), Bryant (Dec. 20) and Massachusetts (Dec. 23), and playing at Providence (Nov. 28).
The 2009-10 schedule features 10 nationally-televised contests - two on ESPN, two on ESPN2, two on ESPNU, three on FSN (Fox Sports Net) and one on CBS. Additional dates could be added to this list.
The Eagles open the season against Dartmouth on Nov. 13, then host St. Francis (NY) before traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the 2009 Paradise Jam. The Paradise Jam is an eight-team tournament. The Eagles open the tourney against Saint Joseph's on Nov. 20, and will then face either Purdue or South Dakota State in the next round. BC will conclude tournament play on Nov. 23 (against DePaul, Northern Iowa, East Carolina or Tennessee). This trip will mark BC's second appearance in the tournament. The Eagles captured the 2003 tourney title.
Upon its return, Boston College travels to Providence for a Nov. 28 date with the Friars. Four days later (Dec. 2), the Eagles face Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., in the Big 10-ACC Challenge. BC has a 3-0 all-time mark in the challenge, including a 77-64 win over Michigan in Crisler Arena on Nov. 28, 2007.
BC then plays its ACC opener, hosting Miami in Conte Forum on Dec. 6. Four games against New England foes follow, before the Eagles close the 2009 calendar year against South Carolina. The Gamecocks return four starters from last year's team that won 21 games and shared the SEC East regular-season title.
After opening the new year with two home games against non-league foes, BC's schedule continues - and concludes - with 15 conference contests. The Eagles travel to Clemson (Jan. 9) and Duke (Jan. 13 on ESPN) before returning to Chestnut Hill to face Maryland (Jan. 16).
The Eagles host three league games in both January and February, before concluding its home slate against Virginia on March 3. Clemson and Florida State join Maryland on the January home schedule, while Duke (ESPN), North Carolina (CBS) and Virginia Tech visit Conte Forum in February.
The ACC Tournament will be played March 11-14 in Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum.
