Men's Soccer Selected Sixth in 2009 ACC Preseason Poll

Boston College men's soccer has been predicted to finish sixth in the league according to the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday.
North Carolina, which ended the 2008 season as the national runner-up, was chosen as the preseason favorite to capture the league title. The Tar Heels received five first-place votes and a total of 73 points, narrowly edging Virginia, which was picked to finish second with four first-place votes and a total of 72 points.
Following the Cavaliers (in order) were defending national champion Maryland, Wake Forest, NC State, Boston College, Duke, Clemson and Virginia Tech.
The Eagles will host exhibition games against Southern Connecticut State (Aug. 20) and Syracuse (Aug. 26) before the 2009 season officially begins.
BC's regular season begins on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Rhode Island. The team's home opener will be on Friday, Sept. 4 against Bryant at 4 p.m.
ACC competition gets underway on Friday, Sept. 11 when BC travels to College Park to face defending ACC champion & NCAA champion Maryland.
