Chestnut Hill, MA - Quintana Ward has been named the Director of Basketball Operations for the Boston College women's basketball team, as announced by Eagles head basketball coach Sylvia Crawley.
"Quintana has been a part of my coaching staff since the first day that I became a Head Coach, only now I've given her an official title," said Coach Crawley. "As captain and point guard, she was an extension of our coaching staff on the floor at Ohio University. She already knows my vision, philosophy and expectations. She has always had a servant's heart and coach's mentality which will assist in her transition as Director of Operations.''
"She will make a great coach someday," said Crawley. "I'm excited about my staff and I having the opportunity to impart everything we know into her so she can impact the future generation of women's basketball."
Ward, a native of Park Forest, Illinois, arrives at Boston College after working for one season as the student assistant with the women's basketball program at Ohio University. Prior to working with the program, Ward played at Ohio University for four seasons, including two under coach Crawley.
As a player, Ward started 32 of 33 games and averaged 7.5 points and 3.8 assists per game in her senior season. As a junior Ward earned the Bobcats Coaches Award and averaged 32.8 minutes, 8.5 points and 4.5 assists a game. She was the team captain from 2005-2008.
While serving as the Director of Operations at Boston College, Ward will organize all team travel, monitor compliance logs, organize video exchange and supervise team managers. She will also serve as the liaison for the Eagles booster organization - Fast Break Club - and coordinate all aspects of camps and clinics.
Ward received a B.S. in Chemistry/Pre-Pharmacy in May from Ohio University. Ward was also a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee and served as an assistant coach for the Chicago City Condors AAU team.
